Tezu airport in Arunachal Pradesh, Kishengarh in Rajasthan, Keshod in Gujarat and Durgapur in West Bengal will figure on the air map when domestic airline companies introduce the winter schedule on October 28.

The addition of these four airports will see the total number of operational airports in the country touch 101, sources in the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation said.

Indian airlines will operate 22 per cent more flights during the winter schedule 2018 with 23,117 departures a week as compared with the winter schedule of 2017. Globally, airlines follow a winter and summer schedule. While the winter schedule runs from the last Sunday in October to last Saturday in March of the following year, the summer schedule operates for the rest of the year.

Meanwhile, Jet Airways — which is facing a financial crunch — has informed the DGCA that it intends to reduce its capacity from December. However, details of the reduction were not made available to the DGCA, officials said.
