Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL)’s integrated drone detection system was deployed during Operation Sindhoor, according to the company.

The PSU described the laser-based system as a game-changer in the operation, claiming it destroyed several low-RCS (Radar Cross Section) drones from Pakistan.

The Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction System, developed by BEL, has proven to be a significant asset for India’s air defence operations during the mission, the company noted.

BEL posted a record turnover of around Rs. 23,000 crore for the financial year 2024–25, marking a 16 per cent growth over the previous year’s Rs. 19,820 crore. Exports make up a small share of BEL’s business, with 90 per cent of its revenue derived from defence projects and 10 per cent from non-defence.

According to Manoj Jain, Chairman and Managing Director, major orders executed until the third quarter included the LRSAM (Long Range Surface-to-Air Missile) as the leading project, followed by the Weapon Locating Radar (WLR), IACCS system, Shakti Electronic Warfare (EW) System, ADC&RS, and the Akash speed programme, for which BEL has begun supplying subsystems.

On the civilian front, the company highlighted the CBIC project. BEL is also eyeing a Rs. 25,000–30,000 crore order for the Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM), expected before March 2026. Execution of the order is slated to begin 18–24 months after it is placed, the company said during its post-earnings investor call.
